Ok, I want an unbiased review of the game as of now.. I know when I tried it in beta it was utter and total crap. Infact I was actually kinda pissed about it as I was expecting so much more from Brad and the boys. I am still going to give it a year + to ever try it again but I wanna hear the good and the bad.

I haven't played it...

But I do have a friend who was in the beta of EQ, and he once told me about some of the stuff that was wrong with the game back then.

Two completely different monsters, I know. All I'm saying is that even if it was crap in beta, and even if its crap now, that doesn't mean it won't be worth playing once it's fine-tuned.

I too would like to know where the game stands now. I really don't like joining a game months after its release... I like to be part of the masses experiencing everything for the first time.

I haven't played it, but it's my understanding that there have been massive improvements in the past few months of beta.

It's a great game with alot of potential but I play eq2 and eq still, so I have a biased opinion.

I have played since Beta 3, yea there are still problems but its fun and challenging game. Reminds me of EQ in that there is so much to see and do.

I see nothing negative about it at all. I was dissappointed greatly, but I still want to try it. After a year I ifigure it will have just about enough of the bugs worked out. I was just curious on people notions Vs. Beta.

I am still having fun seeing and experiencing the new stuff in EQ, and messing about with WoW when time is tight. I have not heard enought yet about Vanguard to say it is worth paying a third subscription, but I may try it yet in the future.

I've only played for about 4 hours so far , but I like it alot. It reminds me of old EQ.

if anyone has a SERIOUS interest in Vanguard I have a 10 day trial key I can spare. Dont ask though if your just looking for something to pass the time.

If you are paying for EQ and would add VG as another one, then you should just get a "station access" account. You will even have access to more games if you want it too. :)

I have to say, almost a week now, and despite the occasional quest glitch (nothing major, report the bug, quit the quest, go back later), the game really well put together, and overall an ass load of fun. I haven't "accidentally" stayed up till 2am, wanting to continue at that, in a long time.

This game definately gives me the feeling I had when I played EQ for the first time. The sense of adventure, the wide open places, the creatures, the environment, it all clicks for me. It's not perfect, but it truly is, in my opinion, the spiritual successor to EQ.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my diplomacy and artificing, then go out and dole out some DPS to some bugbears. :)

They have done a ton of work in the past couple of months alone. There are patches almost once or twice a day, the servers are a little more stable than WoW when it came out, doesnt crash that much. The worst bugs right now are group bugs and once in a while you dont appear to be in a guild (even though you are, takes a relog) There are a ton of quest nodes, and the dungeons are huge, I was lost in a huge underground cave yesterday, totally reminds me of solb or maybe any eq dungeon where you always got lost, lower guk was always a problem for me. but it was overwhelmingly huge, i couldnt peice even a fraction of the layout in my mind.

The people are ok, better crowd than wow, not many retards, once in a while you get someone spamming "this game sux kekeke rolfcopter" and ive come accross a couple ninjas, but that happens everywhere. Very helpfull people higher up seams like, im lvl 17 now so plenty more to see. Ive only explored like 4-5 chunks, which is only a fraction of the world, but its huge, cant even describe it.

there is one or two focus groups on my server, they are hitting mid 20's now, probably know what they are doing better than me, im having trouble grasping where to go next etc, got to grind it out sometimes.

the levels are sloooooow, compared to wow. i have 2 days played so far, i know in other games you can hit 17 much faster. lots of frustration also, when you cant figure out where to quest next, but you come arround to it. there isnt too much info around how to do it, so a lot of stuff you have to figure out on your own, cant just thottbot it.

the game plays great on a dual core rig with 2gigs of ram and a geforce 8800, silky smooth with every detail on max, but you pay the price for it in hardware. was it worth it? <gets wet> hell yes, if only not to upgrade for a year or two.

it looks amazing, you can see as far as hell (if you have your clip plane up), the textures are sharp, the sky kicks ass, the lighting is great, very realistic, if the sun is beaming from the west, the west side of any object is lighter than the east side, just like RL.

its buggy, frustrating, uncharted territory, if you are the type that lives on thottbot this isnt for you. but if you like to get lost in a world then pick it up and give it a shot, if youre scared of bugs, wait a few months. ill be 50 by then, and will then be entitled to call you a noob.

thats all i can think of right now.

now for the propaganda. get your asses on, and join my guild, assholes~

Played some more this week and I like it even more. Im having a blast doing quests and exploring. The only thing I don't like is that my monk armor looks ghetto.

Best to get high end ASAP...bet that is where the non-ghetto looking gear is. hehehe
