How does someone actually update thier video drivers? Can someone walk me through it please? I have Windows XP and a GeForce FX 5200 video card. I remember from my old computer for instructions to change video drivers involved removing old drivers then installing new drivers to avoid conflicts between drivers but I have noticed with new drivers they have an install program that automatically installs the drivers by just clicking on the new drivers icon. Now does this actually remove or overwrite the old drivers saving you the time of having to take out the old drivers manually?
I remember the older way was a pain in butt because after uninstalling old drivers via ADD/REMOVE in control panel ( or whatever uninstall program drivers you may have used ) you were put into the standard VGA video mode, then had to install the new drivers which for some reason always gave me a problem and would take several restarts to actually get the new drivers up and running and the view settings the way I want.
So basically is there any difference if I just click on the new driver icon to install it automatically or do I have to still do it the old fashion way of manually removing old drivers then installing new drivers going through the standard vga view mode? If someone can actually explain it to me how to properly update my video drivers please let me know. Thank you.
