So I just went out and got 2 USB headsets for my girlfriend and myself.

Plug it in, and the speakers stop working completely. Right click the volume icon and I find I have to choose between "Speakers 2-Logitech USB Headset" OR "Speakers-Realtek High Definition Audio. Why is there no way to have both options?

Log into Everquest2, set up voice chat and the mic works perfectly fine. However, half of the sounds are coming out of the headset and half are still coming out of the speakers. Attack sounds from speakers, music from headset, voice from speakers only. Switch some settings around and zone, still can't fix it - basically have to unplug the headset before it starts working right again. Obviously if there was some way to clone the audio through both devices this would fix everything - but I can't figure it out. Is it possible that so much time after Vista's release this still isn't viable?

I'm able to use vent just fine, it sounds like you need to figure out how to route it through eq2 properly, it may not work though because they often don't let you get that specific with it.

I use vista and a logitech headset as well

You can get analog speakers and usb headset working at the same time? Do you run special software? I googled the issue and see thousands of "why can't I?" posts w/o any real solutions.

I'm gonna take these pieces of shit back to best buy and get an analog set.

So you're trying to get speaker sound and USB headset mic? Two headsets at once? I'm not sure I'm following 100%.

Speaker Sound, USB Headset Sound, USB Headset Mic - all at once
Accomplished this with my old analog headset by having an audio splitter, but can't split the USB one and the system seems to only allow one or the other, not both.

I don't think you'll be able to do that with a USB headset.

As you've seen, the system treats a USB sound device as a separate audio device. Most simple programs only support rendering to one at a time (usually just the default one, which probably changes to your headset automatically when it's plugged in).

Yeah, thanks. Glad to have confirmation. I'll take it back today.

I do that with vent kel. I go into sound control panal chose my speakers as default then go into vent and choose to have all sounds there to head set and use mic. I was able to do this in eq1 also.

yeah if you're wanting to get sound and everything through the USB headset at the same time you do the speakers it isn't going to happen. If you wanted to do sound from the speakers, then just from to and from the headset it shouldn't be too hard
