Ok, i just bought a used washer and dryer...and the cold water leaks. I tried putting the hot water hose on the cold water to make sure it wasnt the cold water hose but it still leaks, and only leaks form the cold water. So i think the leak is actually in the plastic thinkgy the water hoses connect to. How the hell do i fix it.

In the "plastic thingy" ? Make sure the o-ring is in there to form a seal.

The washer is on the hose, not the plastic part it screws on to.

Washing machine hoses are just like garden hoses. same ends and everything, only they have two female ends instead of a male and female.

Also you never said if the leak was coming from the back where the hoses mate up to it, or from under the machine itself.

Isn't a dripping hose a symptom of gonnorhea?

ok. after listening to Malse (thanks man) apparently the washer in the hoses fell out, and i went to Lowe's got two washer put it in the hose and voila it works.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Nice to know that when it comes to actually need, and not arguing threads, SAnchek your a fucking douche bag.

I just had a similar problem I couldn't solve. Apparently a quarter got into my pump and over time it cut a hole in the pump so it would leak, though all the connections were sealed. Luckily I have a warranty on my appliances. Keep coins out of your washer!

It could be old lint in the exhaust or if not look at the belt...worse case scenario find a fire extinguisher and for that ask Sanchek.

Clean the screen with water and a toothbrush...all that lint doesn't come off normally. Check for lint or wet crap trapped around the dryer too.

Sorry, I've done my good deed for the year already, you're on your own now!

Is your dryer vent hooked up? Check for lint. Is it making noise?

yeah the vent hose is hooked up, guess i'm going to try and take the "Case" off the dryer and check it out, it smells like when you turn your heater on for the first time in the winter, but a little worse, and i am concerned of fire.

If it's that old heater smell and you bought it used probably just has'nt been run for awhile and dust has built up on the elements. thats nothing to worry about. the chances of your dryer bursting into flame are pretty minscule. but follow kanyli's advise and always clean the lint filter before each use.

And for god's sake man if your going to pull the cover and "poke" around please pull the plug first!!!! it's a 220 circuit and that bites alot harder than a wall outlet.

Sssshhh! In my field, this is what we refer to as a self-solving problem :)

Ironic that the title of the thread was Washer leak and you needed a washer :)

DING DING DING!!! We have a winner!

As an aside, we have always kept a small fire extinguisher near the laundry room as a precautionary measure. Even cleaning the lint filter after every use, all that dust and lint in the air and nooks and corners remains a potential hazard and it is always better to play it safe.

Back in the scouts we tried almost everything to make fires, but the fastest way to get a flame with flint and steel was to land a few sparks on a bed of dryer lint. That shit would burn hot and fast.

I have a relatively new dryer that Leah's folks gave us b/c their washer died and her mom took the opportunity to bug her dad for a new matching set. The washer was fine too it only needed a new hose but hey....anyway I have a 2yr old dryer lightly used for sale if you're looking. You will have to come get it I ain't driving to Florida.

I like this method, its hard to find dryer lint in the middle of Algonquin:
