Made it to seattle last night. staying at a friends house while we look for a house to rent.
i never want to drive again. Took us 4 days, we went at somewhat of a leisurely pace. Saw Mt Rushmore which was neat. Also saw first hand the flooding in Missouri.
Only one scary moment as a gust of wind + semi truck passing + uneven interstate cause my 12ft trailer to sway back and forth at a rate I got REALLY concerned but we made it.
I havent had a chance to upload pictures yet but I will. Got some great shots/

You are on the West Coast now, Grey, so you can relax and get to it when you get to it. It's all good, man! :p

You should go to the East coast instead so you wont have to worry about earthquakes.

It's not the earthquake he needs to worry about but Rainier erupting. besides the quake will be in the Cascadian subduction zone so the coast is done for following the Tsunami.
Hopefully you'll get a nice wind storm this year. I always enjoyed the hell out of those. you have about 1 1/2 to 2 months to get out and enjoy the weather but there is a ton of stuff you can do and see that costs nothing more than gas.
P.S. your mission is to find the Troll! hint: he lives right down the street from Lenin.

The irony that there was a earthquake in the east coast today.

Bitch please! You call yourselves East Coasters? If I was any more east I'd be next to the Azores. Beat that! :D

The point of my post was to make that very joke. :)

I'm still trying to figure out who Mr. Washington is, and why Grey is inside of him? Gross.

LOL, leave it to our sick 'lil lady to go there. And Velvet, the 5.2 quake in Virginia was occurring on a different geological plate formation, so effects could be felt as far as Boston, Detroit and Charleston. Much different from a quake in San Diego that might not be noticed at all in San Francisco, due to plate structure.

It's the same plate but just an older portion crustal rock that lacks the plasticity of the younger rock on the west coast.
I'll be heading over to the Pacific plate and chilling tomorrow before heading home to the comfort of bed on the good old North American plate.

Windstorms are close though and can pack winds that are Hurricane speeds. that's what makes Washington a great state, you can have it all. windstorms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, mud slides, avalanches, floods, tsunamis and wild fires.
Then there is the greatest disaster of all! 2 inches of snow in the metropolitan area!

That's why I love Newfoundland. :) We have rain, fog and drizzle with the VERY occasional hurricane (and I mean RARE!). We don't have any of the major weather systems everyone else has.
We're not always hot and sunny, but for the most part we have it pretty good here.

Wisconsin is pretty mild. Occasional tornado but nothing like the middle of this country see's.

Sounds positively boring where you guys live. nothing like the constant threat of Volcanic devastation to keep your blood pumping!
Grey, if no one has suggested it yet you should pack the kids in to the car then take the Edmonds ferry (ferry rides are way cool all by themselves) roll up highway 3 to the top of the peninsula and follow the signs to a place called Hurricane ridge. you will not find a place on Earth that is more opposite to Florida than Hurricane ridge.

Yup. Nice place. My folk's house in Sequim is not too far from there. Seldom is the road open though. Maybe 4 months out of the year. It was not clear of snow until May this year.
Had one of those windstorms when I moved here. Sucked ass. It blow out a transformer down the road so now I have a backup genny for the house to run the basics. Also I live in the convergence zone and the last snow I got here was first week of May. I live on Green Mountain though.
