go to space camp or something you can get that "almost" feel of being one. I was at KSCenter a few years back, that was well worth the day I spent there. Very cool, if you're into this kind of stuff.

I wanted to go there on my last visit to FL, but my cheap friends didn't want to. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be in FL again someday.

I have been watching these launches on the internet now for about 7 years. It always gets my heart pumping to see the technically outdated Shuttle complex fling some astronauts into orbit.
You can keep watching the feed until the shuttle lands 12 days from now. From all the boring maintenence stuff after launch to the docking on the ISS to deorbit and landing.
The shuttle reaches a maximum ascent speed of Mach 25 - you wouldn't want to hit a racoon at that speed ;).
