Return of the King is RotK, it's the third installment of the LotR. I've heard that it's supposed to be fantastic from a friend who got the opportunity to see a private showing. He said that it's just as good, if not better, than the first two.

So my gf has a issue with limbs being lobbed off. I.E. The end of Empire Strikes Back mortifies her, luke losing his hand.

I went this morning to scout out Kill Bill. There is no way in hell shes ever going to be able to watch that movie ever, most of it is how many different ways extremities can be whacked off. I thought it was a cool movie.

But ya, the trailer for LoTR sequel just looks sooooo good. There is little chance that movie will disappoint.

Agreed on both counts L2.

That schoolgirl chick from battle royale was insane.

(Paraphrasing since I don't have a perfect memory:)

"Leave... and take your life with you...
but leave the limbs... they are mine now."

Bizarre. Morbid. Hilarious. Genius.
Definitely left me wanting more... can't wait for Vol. 2.

That schoolgirl chick from battle royale was insane.Chiaki Kuriyama, I assume. I have the widely-distributed workprint of Kill Bill on VCD, but I only popped it in long enough to catch 10 or 15 minutes of it. I'll try to catch it in the theater. I loaned out my region-3 DVD of Battle Royale. I might re-watch it...

She was born in 1984, if that helps any of you with lust in your hearts...

Sort of a follow-up. I have to think, lacking any evidence otherwise, that Tarentino strictly picked her based on him being a fan of Battle Royale. She'd done about NOTHING else - one Japanese TV show, a voice part, and some bit pieces - other than Battle Royale, in which, of course, she was a cold-blooded 9th grade killer.

Where did you get your Region 3 DVD player or are you using a multicode? If so did you mod it yourself or buy it.

Ive been looking for a Region 3 Player forever but none of them use the right voltage or some shit.

Oh... my :)

I guess I'll have to go see this film now... ;)

We don't get many good films in Laredo (I'm *hoping* the Clint Eastwood film coming out comes here, 'Lost in Translation' hasn't) and Kill Bill was sold out yesterday afternoon. We'll have to try again during the week...

Has anyone noticed that the plot line was taken from the last Bruce Lee movie Game of Death?

The whole movie is an homage to kung-fu/samurai/vengence films that Quentin Tarantino says influenced hm alot. So yes there are alot of things that refer to or were part of other movies. Its what makes it an homage.. . . And yes the movie was great and there is something way too sexy about Go-Go in that movie.

yes, the trailer for RoTK looks great...

but the trailer for Matrix Revolutions makes my testicles tingle in ways I never thought possible. See it here, at your own risk. (http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/rv_cmp/theatrical_trailer_640.html)

The chronology of the movie is really messed up tierfin, like Pulp Fiction. I don't want to spoil anything but that gives a clue as to how someone could be in both movies.

I have a region-free Apex, but it's getting tired. Too many hours logged with a disc in it repeating the menu over and over.

Plenty of region-free hackables still purchasable for under $100.

In the case of Battle Royale, I just burned myself a region-free copy on my Pioneer :)

1) ya. not sure how many volumes they have in this but they could squeeze out at least 3 considering they didnt tell you anything about how the main char got involved with the viper death squad (or whatever it was called) and why bill and crew decided to fuck her plus she still has..... well dont wanna spoil the movie.

2) i thought kill bill was great. i was laughing almost the whole time through. I think there were alot of parts that Quentin Tarantino meant as funny that seemed to go over most of the people in the theatre i was in's heads so i found myself being one of the only ones laughing at parts that some of the folks seemed horrified at hehe.

3) and yes. the RotK trailer made me feel......(OH YEAH!)

oh. and about the blood spraying. That was friggin hilarious everytime. especially when cottonmouth decapitated the guy around the table and his neck started shooting up blood, then stopped, then sprayed a little, then stopped, then sprayed a little more hehe.

"I'm going to say this in English so you know how serious I am. As your leader, I encourage you to -- from time to time and always in a respectful manner, and with the complete knowledge that my decision is final -- to question my logic. If you're unconvinced a particular plan of action I've decided is the wisest, tell me so. But allow me to convince you. And I will promise you, right here and now, no subject will be taboo...except the subject that was just under discussion. The price you pay for bringing up either my Chinese or my American heritage as a negative is, I collect your fuckin' head. Just like this fucker here. Now if any of you Sonsabitches got anything else to say, now's the fuckin' time." O-Ren

~ Best fucking scene ever. If it wasn't a damn book it would be my tag line hehe ~

Yeah as an Asian I could understand lots of logics and small details as to what they do with certain things. It was a fine movie and the enthusiasm of the Japanese reminded me of lots of things I learned while I was in high school and college.

I'm a big fan of Uma Thurman, but I just can't buy her as an uber-samurai. That's my only gripe. Other than that, EXCELLENT movie I'd see multiple times in the theatre.

I need a damn sword.

Laerwyn
10-15-2003, 07:09 PM
For some RoTK perspective. There were 200,000 computer generated Orcs that were shown on the march, on the field, and attacking Helm's Deep.

On the field at the White City there are 1.5million.

Did anyone else notice that she and a few other passengers had their samurai swords sitting right next to them on the seat during the airplane rides? ;P

Yeah, I noticed that, and the fact that the swords also seemed to be common accessories with Japanese motorcycles.
