Want to see a real example of the media trying to manipulate the election?

The number one video on MTV's Total Request Live at the moment is....

Eminem's Mosh (http://www.gnn.tv/content/eminem_mosh.html)

And it's even a pretty damn good video. The lyrics are a bit out there, but it gets its message across. This makes me even more interested in seeing how many young people are going to show up and vote, and how it could effect the election.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 26.7 million Americans between the ages of 18 and 24, and only 8.6 million of them – about 32 percent – voted in the 2000 Presidential elections, meaning two of every three did not vote.

I'd bet that's not going to be the case this time.

I saw that yesterday. I thought it was an awesome video, even if I don't agree with the message.

I think that's more a case of 'OMG EMIMEM I TOTALLY IDENTIFY WITH HIM B-CUZ IM WHITE TOO AND HE KNOWS MY PAIN' than people actually agreeing with his message. The average age of an MTV viewer according to some poll I read(spent a few minutes trying to dig it up to no avail) is 14.

Lol this is crazy, I was just browsing around on various sites discussing the USA PATRIOT Act and found a link to this video so I downloaded and watched it. The second after having finished watching it I went here to create a post about it and what do I find?

I think it'd be bad if people voted with music videos as a base of their opinion, but the video was pretty good!

19- year old "oh i know this one! john kerry"

"why?"

19- year old "hes not bush!"

"do you know any policy he stands for, his past voting record, what he supports?"

Doesn't Green Day also have a politically charged song on the air?

Got to say i do support the artists pushing for the vote. Granted the tards who vote for the candidates that P.Diddy or Eminem like suck. Still support "Rock the Vote" better them voting early and eventually learn how to think, then to never vote at all.

Direct link to the Eminem video, if you're otherwise forced to watch it in a window. (Right-click to save.)

Oh, and, while I'm at it, I caught this on XM-66 (http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=66) a couple nights back, I hadn't seen the video until now. I'm an Eminem fan (not quite a fanboi, but a fan nonetheless), and as the song goes, I'll only call it sort of a B- work on his part. The video, however? A+

And, in complete hijack mode, XM-66 isn't exactly more normal channel. I 'm pretty much listening to XM-47 Ethyl (http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=47) by default. When I feel a need to shake things up a bit, it's Top Tracks, Raw, Fungus, and The Rhyme.

Since my anual mecca to Las Vegas is only 7 days away, I plan on a nice relaxing 5 hour drive with uninterupted no-repeat no-commercial Ethyl to keep me company.

How about this revolting shit?

Nobody mentions Bush or Kerry, and these get-out-the-vote efforts insist they are nonpartisan.

Ok, phel, dude, I don' mind you as a person, and liked being guilded with you way back when, but stop this shit, just stop. This is the second time you've pulled anti-religion flames into a thread I started that had absolutely nothing to do with religion. If you hate christians so much, then start your own thread about it. Otherwise, fuck off.

The truly sad, or scary, or both, part is that your 19 year old's vote counts just as much as yours.

A quote from your link:

I don't want to rebel’
Lindsay Ellyson, who came to the concert at Gilead Friends with two friends, is the 16-year-old daughter of the church pastor. This church is her world, she goes to school here, hangs out at a prayer group. She doesn't watch TV, much less MTV, and doesn't much miss it. Her life seems fun and fulfilling with worship, music and prayer.
"I don't want to rebel," says Ellyson
HOW DARE A 16 YEAR OLD NOT WANT TO REBEL! SOMEONE GET PUFF DADDY ON THE PHONE, STAT!
