Well this didn't work as planned. Greatly blew up in my face actually. Since I can't really see anyone useing this or reading this for what it was intended as (aside from my personal venting) I'm editting it. I didn't want to flame SoT as a guild. Just shed some light and say some good byes to some great people.

SoT has a lot of really cool people if you get the chance to know them. My only beef is that an app/probie to any guild should be asked questions to learn more about circumstances surrounding certain events, rather than just assume what happened and harp on them for things that in actuality they have little to no control over.

Simple rules of applying to a raiding guild:

1. You are applying to the guild and not the guild is applying to you.

2. thus you should shut your mouth till you are full member. Only talk if you are talked to.

3. always accept responsibility for your actions even if you feel that it wasn't your fault. Say "sorry" as frequently as you can!

4. don't make fun out of the senior members even if other senior members do it, know your place.

There, if you observe these rules then you will make it into even the most tightass raiding guild.

Guilds are cliques. To get into the clique, you must do what they want. There are no laws in-game preventing them from coming up with any number of twisted and fucked up ways to get in (hi2u app obstacle course!!). The only thing they cannot do, is violate the TOS, more or less anything that constitutes harassment etc. In the end, you are joining them, they have the last word, and at any time can decide not to take you.. after all, it is a clique thing.

I imagine SoT won't post anything on this, unless they already have and I don't recognize names (guild rosters seem to be as stable as our nation's borders at times), so I really doubt this will be interesting at all.

Maybe I should just post my quit message, so that everyone will have some drama to read!

We let you loot a dagger the night before you got the boot, knowing full well you were getting the boot. You have more flags now then you did before joining.

Truth of the matter is, too many people didn't think you were a good fit so you got the boot. Simple. Coming to Ayro to try and drag SoT through the mud leads me to beleive that the consensus of you being a bad fit was right.

The fact that you felt it was SoT's responsability to form up groups to help you through T6 (instead of just being happy with whom ever from SoT decided to do T6 for the zillionth time to help you out), The Fact that you would bring this to a public board in itself means your likely not a good fit in any of the top guilds IMO.

Apparently this person was not aware of the fact that SOT is a bunch of half ass players with no talent :( Therefore you must rely not on your skill but on your ability to kiss ass. Since you probably will be applying to another guild, may I suggest trying for one of the higher end guilds like EW or IVM. You may consider having your mother sleep with an officer too. I heard that works wonders. Must be a french bard though. Do not be confused and have your mother sleep with like a newb ass human rogue or a barb shaman.

When I wrote that friggin book I was pretty iritated. But the goal was to do the least amount of flaming SoT as possible. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have my new dagger or all the flags I got. I'm very appreciative of that.

The goal I was aiming for was to give some guild leaders some insight. To see what it can be like to be an app to their guild and how frustrating it can be. Games aren't supposed to be a head ache like that. It's supposed to be fun. I really liked certain people in the guild and that's why I wanted to join. So I could hang out with them.

(btw Sandin54 I could rip your post apart based on SoT rules and how you misread the post. If you read through it quick though I see how you could misread some things.)

Any how it helped me see a different point of view for when I lead my guild in EQ2. I've revised my process so that above all players in EQ apping to my guild are real people with real lives for one reason or another are interested in joining my guild. That's a great compliment that someone is paying a monthly fee to play a game where they want to be accociated with something you have created. To show common courtesy it is my oppinion that if my guildies have a problem with our probies, it should be dealt with maturely and up front instead of, well lets just give them the boot without giving them a reason. I'm willing to believe that because of miscomminication in SoT and probably other guilds, many people have been robbed the chance to show that they can fit with a guild if given a fair opportunity.

No where is there laws written how to conduct a guild. But I can see alot more respect going out to a guild if they gave apps and probies the benefit of the doubt and chance to represent themselves.

Again, this was not an attempt to flame SoT, it was an attempt to show guild leaders and officers who haven't been the flip side of the coin for sometime, how the otherside of the story pans out since they may not have offered someone the chance like what happened to me.

A guild is a club, basically. The harder it is to get into, the more popular it will be. Exclusivity brings desire and loyalty. Not saying it's a good or bad thing, just that it's human nature, whether you're talking about guilds or anything else.
