I've been away from eq for a few months and have basicly read that it's dead and not much of a point to return to the game. Now I have also heard things about WoW and EQ2. Not sure on what game to go with or just say the hell with pay to play type of games. So if you play either of them I would love to hear the pro's and con's of both games or if there not worth it and to save my money  Thanks for the input

I have a healthier solution for you then getting back into MMO's if you've managed to stay away for months...

You could save your money and attempt interaction with the female gender.

Best you find a game that isn't so addictive ;) If you can stay away from EQ or WoW, more power to you. It's very tough to be a casual player if you want to see a lot of content. And a social life, like the others said, could be more fun :)

Going that route is definitely going to cost even more money :o .

12 something a month, vs around 15 to see 1 movie for 2, just stick with the game, I'm debating trying to do both, I dont think I'll be able to do it :p

If anything, TES4 is due out eventually, and the nude patch will probably be released within a month. That'll kill a couple weeks.

Downloading mods for TES3 is a goddamn addiction I wish I could get rid of.

You're pretty lucky to have found a girl you only have to spend 12 bucks on a month. I'm sure my fiancee would love it if he only had to spend 12 bucks a month with me around.

But about the game it just depends on what you want to spend, I don't know what EQ2 is but WoW is 14.99 a month with quick lower leveling and kick ass PVP. I would post something about EQ2 but... the only thing i know about it is, the graphics on the Character Creation CD were pretty cool. That's about all i know on EQ2.

EQ1 really isn't dead. All the powergamer locusts have pillaged their fill and have moved on to other green fields. Whats left are the more casual players now who still have a desire to see content without having to wait in a long line. Beats me if the atmosphere has changed though, because the more casual types tend to be those more vested in the Real World: AKA moms, dads, professionals and others who have all the baggage that is brought on by having a few years on them with less time to invest in a game. If you want 1337, best go check out WoW since all the hardcore gravitated there, although it really is good for all types of players like any other Blizzard title or so they say. I deployed overseas a week after WoW hit the shelves and had bought EQ2 on release, so I never bothered to try WoW.

Just as a reference: I blew more money one night in Singapore than I spent on MMOs in a year, which includes expansions and subscriptions combined. The post Singapore experience was a painful visit to the peehole from Mr. Q-Tip and throwing up all the next day on a 6 hour flight onboard a KC-10. MMOs do have their virtues!

Did you have to get that shot in your ass that makes you puff up? They inject some funky white shit thru the needle...or so I hear thank god I never had to experience it but it sounds as though you might have gotten to experience it ;) All my buddies told me the same BS about a shot when the came back from Asia just wondering.

The "Peanut Butter" shot is what you are talking about. Its a silver bullet pretty much that kills all the bad non-viral stuff that can ruin your day. Probably uses the fat in your ass as a time delay to release metered doses into your body and while its there it feels like someone shot peanut butter into your buttcheek. Nope. I have not gotten one since boot. The test was precautionary and I didn't need that shot.

MMORPG's are good cheap entertainment if you handle the time investment well. I spend 15 bucks a month on WoW, and can get a good amount of time out of that 15 bucks, without it taking over my life or anything like EQ did. Whereas one of my other hobbies, going to concerts for example, can be between 5-10 bucks just for entrance for the night.

So if you're able to play without getting addicted, I say go for it. Most of what Lummus said is true, and to add one thing he wasn't sure about, WoW is definetly casual friendly. I love playing it, but don't feel like I have to put in a massive time investment to be productive, which was one of the things I hated with EQ. I suggest reading up on the different games and seeing what sounds like fun to you. I've heard good things about City of Heroes for example.
