Who is John Galt?

John Galt is a character in a book who actually stands against everything the republicans support. Kind of wonder why they adopted him as a hero.

You really did not read the book very closely I see.....

John Galt is the very essence of the free market capitalist in a vision of America VERY similar to today's Obama administration.

You're not to bright are ya? You'd think a man of such high moral caliber and not to mention a 50 inch chest would understand what he reads. But I guess not. 'Tis a shame. You might learn a thing or twelve.

Oh, and of course this is just fine...

Galt is a free market capitalist character in a book...he doesn't exist, republicans are far from free market capitalists. They are purveyors and supporters of corporate welfare, the prison society, MIC. Pretty much everything the character stood up to fight against.

Much like the total and complete misinterpretation they have of the "Boston Tea Party" once again they go for the sloganeering instead of substantive solutions.

None of the brainiacs who are embracing Galt have actually, you know, gone Galt.

Also, Ayn Rand books completely suck.

As one who clearly supports the Marxist rhetoric of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need". I'd expect you to say that. You sir are an icky red commie.... Eww eww eww!

What do Free Market Capitalism and Communism have in common?

Both are theories that where ever they have been tried (if ever) in a pure form, have completely failed.

Yet both work when watered down and mixed with other systems.

Kind of interesting. Yet ideologues from both ends try to push their sanctified beliefs as if they were some sort of religion.

Kind of reinforces a statement I tend to agree with:

"Nothing in moderation will kill you, but anything in excess, will."

Also see the Greek and Chinese ideals of the Golden Mean.

I wish the current crop of fringe conservatists would realize communism and socialism are not the same thing.

Scrooge McDuck is from Ducktales fame. If I recall he is the richest duck in all of Duckburg and is constnatly having to defend his massive wealth from the likes of those evil Beagle Boys.

Probably one of my fav shows evar. If you would like more info please pst Oipunx.

Those late 80's/early 90's Disney cartoons are awesome. TaleSpin is golden too.

Scrooge McDuck was before Ducktales....

Scrooge, maternal uncle of previously established character Donald Duck, made his first named appearance in Christmas on Bear Mountain in December 1947, a story written and drawn by artist Carl Barks. His appearance may have been based on a similar-looking, nameless Scottish character from the 1943 propaganda short The Spirit of '43.

China is a mix of "Animal Farm" and "Atlas Shrugged".
The USA is a mix of "Atlas Shrugged" and "1984".
The blend of Orwell and Rand for both countries might explain why the two nations get along so well. There really are vast similarities.

Granted that Big Brother in the US is not so much the government but any large employer these days.....
