I sure as hell didnt. I figured McCain would take it, riding on his success in NH. Unfortunately, we havent weeded out any of the big names which is just going to further dillute the the republican waters. I was thinking that Romney would lose and put his support in behind one of the other candidates.

As for Hilary, ugh. It looks like she will be the dem candidate, Obama just doesnt have enough steam in his campaign. If Edwards would bow out and put his support behind Obama, then Obama might have a chance. But until then, we may have another Clinton Era on our hands.

I think there are plenty worse things than a Clinton Era (the 2nd Bush era certainly isn't treating our nation well), but I'm hoping Obama or -- very unlikely -- Edwards pulls it out. I wouldn't count Obama out by a long shot, but he has his work cut out for him.

I'm not surprised Romney won. He put a lot of effort into Michigan, and while his money hadn't worked previously, Michigan is a part of his past. Home field advantage won out. Even if Romney lost, that would be three 2nd place finishes in three states -- not a bad position to be in, and he's got decent cash flow to keep it up. Hmm...a McCain/Romney ticket strikes me as pretty sensible from the Republican end.

Huckabee playing strongly (http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Huckabee_Amend_Constitution_to_meet_Gods_0115.html ) to the pro-theocratic crowd.
"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Sen. Obama is doing quite well. I wouldn't call him done yet.

I don't like his positions but I like his politics, and it's showing a positive influence. His battle with the two Clintons is giving the Republicans breathing room to sort out their nominee

Good stuff for the country overall. Both parties need to nominate the best this country has to offer.

That is what scares me about Huckabee. I cannot see having a preacher in the White House, for many, many reasons. I am leaning toward agreeing that a McCain/Romney ticket may be the easiest sell to the party, but I am skeptical that Romney would ever accept being subordinate to another after his history of being a chief executive (which also is scarey seeing how Dubya has behaved, with the same background).

Romney taking Michigan was not that surprising, with the deep history of his family there.

Sen. McCain will never step down to be VP.

Nor should he, being the best qualified in the Republican field atm. He has shown a greater ability to work with both sides of the aisle, a greater willingess to clean up the money game that politics has become, and a greater amount of integrity in voicing those truths that folks don't want to hear; he has shown he can be a leader of the nation, whereas the rest of the field is too busy trying to persuade the voters why they think they can be leaders.

one of the few problems i, as a person, have with McCain is his hawkishness, but it has to be said, he is by far the best republican candidate atm.
