I recently picked up an LX700 keyboard/mouse combo from Logitech, hoping to do away with some of the wires on my desk. I just can't get past the slight lag on them though. With the mouse, I feel like I'm always about a half second ahead of the pointer with my hand, and about the same on the keyboard.

Does anyone have experience with a cordless setup that has better response times? I'd love to stick with the cordless and I really like the keyboard feel and layout, but I can't stand the delay.

I haven't found a wireless mouse (that is in the range of what I am willing to pay) yet that doesn't have that annoying lag. I'd be curious to know too.

Within reason, I'll pay whatever it takes if there's something that really works solid.

Also, 2.4ghz is iffy for me. There's 802.11 in the air and I've had a lot of trouble with bluetooth devices due to that. I've got a class 1.2 headset and USB adapter that seem to work, but I'd be iffy about any of these bluetooth kb/mouse deals.

I don't experience that lag with mine. Never felt it was sluggish.

I have two of the Logitech wireless mice and I don't notice any lag either.

I just tried an MX5000 set this afternoon. The keyboard was awesome (except some initial lag on the first few letters sometimes), but the mouse was so messed up it would keep moving by itself for 5-10 seconds after I stopped sometimes.

That set was bluetooth though, and I expected it wouldn't work anyway. I think I'm going to take it back tonight and try an mx1000 on the 27mhz frequency instead. No clue what to do about the keyboard though.

Which models do you guys use?

I have the microsoft wireless pro. works like a charm.

I have a wireless router about 1 ft away and it interferes with the keyboard sometimes but other than that it works great. No lag or anything, it is just the keyboard sometimes types letters on its own or gets confused/stuck on keystrokes.

but the mouse was so messed up it would keep moving by itself for 5-10 seconds after I stopped sometimes. That's just insane. Move your receiver somewhere else.

I have the nice LX combo with the recharging base. In the future, I'll go with a wired keyboard (honestly, I don't take it anywhere, and changing the batteries makes me sad), and a nice wireless mouse with a recharge base (like I already have).

I have had the MS bluetooth desktop combo for about 2 years now and have never noticed a problem with lag whatsoever. I have played Doom3, EQ, WoW and many other games and never had a problem. The only problem I have is if you cannot use standby on the pc other than maybe just the monitor shutting off and like Sanchek said about the initial lag when you turn on your PC or come back to it after awhile. The mouse has been great but I go through 2 AA's for it about every 3-4 weeks sometimes more and the keyboard about once a month or longer is replaced. I too have my linksys router near by but do not have a problem I use 2nd hand drivers for it and they have a bluetooth compatability mode.

Overall I do not have a problem with either and I am overall very satisfied.

With the one that was all crazy demon possessed, the receiver is a USB dongle (supposedly a 30ft range) so there's not much repositioning to do with it.

The 27mhz Logitech doesn't do anything like that. It just feels soft compared to the mx310 I used before.

Well, after talking to Korlis, I decided to try upgrading my wireless router to a newer one to help with any 2.4ghz interference my three year old 802.11b router might have been dumping on the bluetooth receiver. Sure enough, that seems to have greatly reduced the issues with the mouse. Weird.

If it acts up again, I've got one of their "Fast Cordless" MX3000 sets to try too. I will seriously have tried every damn combination available before it's over.

If only they made a left hand or ambidextrous version of this mouse.

I've had problems with mine when I stick the reciever too close to other electronic devices. Strangely enough, the best place for it seems to be on the floor under my desk, tucked away with that giant mess of cords I have powering my PC and my aquarium.

With the MX5000 set, the receiver is a bluetooth USB dongle. I don't have much choice on the placement of that (I guess I could get an extension and hang it plugged into that off the desk).

I'm seeing a lot of other reports of people with MX1000s (bluetooth and normal RF) that have the same problem as me. Yet, there are always responses by others saying they've got it and it works fine. I wonder what the difference is...

All I know is it's getting out of control in here.

hmmm I wonder if my wireless router was the problem with my wireless mice too. Something I'm going to have to test. But I had the exact issues as Sanchek every time I tried to use one.

Are you using all those keyboards and mice on different system? Ever thought of a KVM switch lol. I certainly know I couldn't live w/o mine.

I no real issues with my set up. It's a Dell wireless combo. I set the reciever under the monitor. Only when the batteries get low do I see wierd stuff happen.

That's just one computer there. All those god forsaken keyboards and mice are the ones I've been trying to get to work for the past few days.

I used to KVM to my servers, but I use remote desktop now. One less box = better.

I'm still using the bluetooth mx5000 set today, and it seems mostly okay. Maybe the router really did make that much difference.

Hmm well my router is very close to me, I might try moving some things around seeing if that changes anything. I'd really like to lose some of the wires around my desk.

I give up. I plugged my old busted ass mx310 back in, and it was immediately obvious that it's way ahead of even the mx1000 in usable accuracy.

I wish I could get this LCD keyboard without the bluetooth. I actually like it a lot, if it were wired.

Looks like a few people on my Christmas list are getting wireless keyboard/mouse combos...

I use a microsoft wireless mouse 2.0 Model number says its 1008. It uses 2 AA, and they last for months. I play tons of First person shooters with it and no lag ever. Not sure why you are having so much trouble Sanchek 8( .

Maybe I need to try an MS set. So far it's been all Logitech. Not having a rechargable mouse battery kinda bugs me about those, but I guess it's fine if they last that long. Does it have a battery indicator of any kind when the battery's getting low?

For all your mousing needs:

Unfortunately they do not make a wireless version.

I bought this mouse a few months ago...like 3 or 4. And im using the same set of AA. And it works awsome.

Adesso actually has some REALLY nice wireless keyboard and touchpad combos that are actually a mini keyboard. What's so great? They have one that gives a 100 ft range.

It's freaking insane! They do make great keyboards though, we always have a hard time keeping them in stock.

To be sure it was just that I was having a hard time adjusting to a new mouse, I got a mx510 yesterday and tried it. Soon as I plugged it in, it felt perfect to me. Like the mx310, but even more accurate.

Are you sure you guys using the wireless aren't just old and slow? Well, I know Korlis is, but other than him.

I use an old corded logitec trackball i love it.

Sanchek

My Grandma always used a trackball. It made me feel like I was drunk on Jaeger.

Do you use it in games too?

Malse

I used to use a Logitech 4-button trackball before I ended up computing more at work than home. Works fine for games.

Sanchek

And here I always thought you were really bad at games. It was just the controller!

I'm using a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo, no idea what is the type, not indicated on the damn thing, just that it is called "Logitech Cordless Desktop - Express". Don't know the frequency range, it isn't bluetooth, just normal radio.

After a bit of messing around I placed its receiver under the table (away from the speakers, monitors, modem and bluetooth thingy), it worked after that just fine.

My only grief is that the mouse eats batteries like a $2 whore eats ...well you get the idea. The keyboard lasts like half a year on a set of batteries, the mouse eats two alkaline (AA sized) batteries in a week or so.
Tried using rechargeable batteries but those died like in 24 hours and triggered the low battery alert right after I put them in....

Anyone know a good wireless mouse (standalone, not with keyboard, I smoke too much at the PC for expensive keyboards) that is rechargeable?

EDIT, oh yea I'm one of those freaks who use left hand for mousing, are there any good left handed, wireless, rechargeable ball-less mouses (mice?) around?

Forget about the mx1000 type form factor. I use my left hand a lot too and that thing was terrible to use. The MX5xx series and the Gx series feels fine in the left hand though.

I use mx1000 cordless mouse myself, and so far i haven't had any real problems with it. It does tend to last about 3-4 days on a recharge with heavy gaming, about a week and a half if not really doing alot of gaming and stuff..
It's not sluggish at all for me, but some seem to get one that's not great while others get ones that are near perfect for them. Got tired of replacing batteries every week so a rechargeable was the way to go..lol
Also have a logitech wireless keyboard that serves me well, although it's a little old.
Not running my chair over cords is worth the hassle of wireless imho.

Is that one of the bluetooth mx1000s or the standalone one that's 27mhz?
