Yanno what, I should absent myself from these boards for awhile.

My father just had a stroke and I'm real hateful atm.

Forgive me

Dear Fandros:

I'm sorry to hear about your father, and I hope he makes a full recovery. Repair to central nervous system damage is slow, but don't be discouraged - and my thoughts to your family at this time.

Sincerely,
Nydia

I have no answers Nydia, my Son is feeling the brunt of my angst and has decided to move back to his Mom's after 3 years.

I hope this helps him I have no answers.

Hang in there.

My grandpa had a stroke a year ago, and they didn't expect him to last three months. He's driving today.

Here's hoping for the same kind of recovery for your Dad.

If you are heading back to Indiana to visit him, I'll drive over and take you out for a drink to help take your mind off of it if you'd like.

I'm hoping for a full recovery for your father, but I am also hoping you have a support structure available to you, and that you recognize and make use of it.

You and your family are in my thoughts.

There is improvement, his speech is vastly better. However we're worried it'll lead to more.

Thanks for the well wishes, and the seperate thread ;P

My best wishes for a full and speedy recovery for your Dad Fan. Had a scare with my Dad over Memorial Day where he had to have a pacemaker put in, his heart rate had dropped to under 20 beats. They still haven't figured out why. It can really rock your world when these things happen.

Fandros, I don't really know how to say it any other way, so here it is: good vibes, prayers, whatever you want to call em coming your way from me. Here's hoping for an excellent recovery.

Really sorry to hear Fandros. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and wish your father to have a speedy recovery. On the teenager front I have nothing to say but /hugs they're aliens and do dumb things. You know you love him and he loves you some folks deal with hardships differently try not to hold it against him and keep your chin up.

Hang in there mate - my father had an attack of acid pressure around his heart through stress the other day and collapsed in the Doctors.

Best thing is to be there for him and give him as much support as possible. And don't worry about your son - he'll understand, if not right away.

If you need anything, let me know.

He's back to his old self, which is somewhat of a problem because he's once again going full bore remodeling the house.

I'm going to cast snare and hit him with my Earthcaller!!

Fandros

ummmm Good enough, applying for jobs back home and torn if I get one. I can't expect my 16 year old son to follow me and move from his Mother and sisters.

So, update.

After weeks of extensive testing they've decided my Dad didn't actually have a stroke.

Instead it's some sort of targeted migraine that emulates a stroke by causing some of the same symptoms.

I don't know how or why he got one, or the complications that could lead to and from the event.

I'm just glad he's back 100% and doing everything the doctors say.

Thank you all for the well wishes and info...

Fand My mom has those. They are tricky hers get to the advance state that if the doctors do nto listen and treat her for a stroke it could kill her. she has ended up with permanent damage from them but mentally she is great. Some signs to look for slured speech, turning of the foot on one side or the other, and then the headache that last for days. There are very few people in the world that have this problem and it took them years to diagnose her correctly. This started with ehr about 22 years ago when i was 9.

Wow, I have never heard of a migraine capable of this. How is it treated/diagnosed? That is some freaky stuff.

Glad your father is doing well Fandros.

That is scary, though the alternative I'd imagine is far worse. Great news. Good luck to his, and your, continued health :)
