The only thing that is kinda funky about it, is that I feel the release is going to be quite a few years late. 3 years from now WoW won't have nearly the same player base it does now, no?

This has been in the works for like a year, they are slow getting going. It is not supposed to be based on WoW though. But the previous Warcraft stuff. And even if WoW's popularity takes a dive, blizzards popularity never does.

I'm guesing that this movie is going to be an epic fail .. seeing from the past few games / cartoons made into movies.. 9 out of 10 of them left people sadly dissapointed...:(

Great idea! Because movies based on games have scored such previous success!
What the fuck are these people thinking.

Well at least this movie has a talented director. Unlike other video game adaption's. This one could translate well. War between humans and orcs with hopefully a good budget.

Yes, Peter Jackson did a great job doing that. Anything that comes of this WoW movie idea will be compared to that, as it is the same basic group of viewers that will be judging it.

Most video game to movie adaptions have had horrible directors (Uwe Bole I'm looking at you) though. In addition, the games themselves (except for Alone in the Dark maybe) never had much of a plot to begin with, which while a talented team could turn aside with good writing, hasn't happened yet.
Honestly, if this is based on warcraft lore (the RTS's, 1, 2 and 3) then I think with a good group behind it, it has a good chance of being worth watching.

Hey, if the Buffy musical was considered Emmy worthy by some critics (and me) than the EQ musical should be great too! :D
Just the Plane of Time alone would produce some great duets/trios and choirs. And c'mon, tell me you don't want to see Maestro rockin' it out on the keyboards.

Broadway musicals look for Tony's, not Emmy's :)

I would think Plane of Fear would have a much better musical interlude.
Guild leaders: "OH NO!, we did not wipe again?"
Guildies : "YES WE DID!"
GL's: "We did not wipe again?"
Guildies: "YES WE DID!"
Together: "Oh Oh Oh Ohhhhhh!!!, Cazic Thule has all of our gear put aside for Hiiimm, for HIM!!!!!!!"

Actually, EverQuest and WoW graphics would make for great musicals. Remember, Avenue Q's "The Internet is for Porn" a la World of Warcraft? I actually was fairly entertained...

Any one know if Blizz will handle the CG portion of the movie? I've always thought thier cinematics were fantastic and who better to "draw the movie than themselves.

They wouldn't nearly be as good as a real post house for live action CG, which is what would be needed for this film. I'd imagine he would work with Pixel Magic again.

I would have loved to have seen a full CG movie in the styling of their game cinematics.

The audience for that would be pretty low, that Final Fantasy CGI movie did about as well as Pokemon in theaters. The only CG movies that ever do well are the Pixar ones because of their child/adult appeal. They got Raimi because they want to make a live action w/ realistic CG film.
