With the NHL season cancelled, and no real desire to play WoW/EQ(2), I decided to pick up NHL 2005.

Lesson learned: if a game is selling for $20, there is a reason; IT FUCKING BLOWS.

I was a huge fan of NHL games up until I played this piece of shit game.

I normally play the game on normal mode, full penalties, icing, manual line changes, goalies, shot aim, the works.

Never have I played such a piss poor game. The AI is not only terrible, they're down right stupid. Hi, let's pass the puck backwards into our own net.

It's really disheartening to have the fastest skater on my team blow by the opponents defense, only to have them somehow spin around and lay me out after I'm a good 10 feet by them.

Have an injury in season mode? Good thing you can't check out what kind of injury it is or how long they'll be out!

The most annoying thing, though, is that there are times (entire games) where you CANNOT win a face off. It doesn't matter who you have, the game wont let you control the face off. You can time it perfectly, you can do everything right, and the computers 4th line center will STILL win the puck against your star center.

Get into a fight with the computer? Just like face offs, their shittiest, weakest, most punk-bitched fighter will take out your enforcer, "just because". They'll block every hit, and hit you 5 times in a row, even if you attempt to block it, too bad for you!

It wasn't all bad though. I mean, I actually had to turn shot aim from manual to auto because the cpu goalies were too stupid. Skate down, slap shot to the opposing corner of the net, goes in every time. What fun?

Try taking a shot from anywhere on the ice besides inside your offensive zone, there's no way you can even come remotely close to the net. GO GO SHITTY PROGRAMMING.

Want to setup a one timer? Too bad, because your teammate has to stop with the puck, turn around, wave at the crowd, wind up, and THEN after all that, attempts to take a shot.

Want to make a pass? Well you better know that you cant pass forwards! No no, only side to side or backwards in this game! Yee haa! Not to mention the fact that the puck STILL goes right to the nearest teammate, and not the person you really want the puck to go to.

And, if you REALLY want to have some fun, try making any attempt at doing anything remotely hockey related in this game. You won't be able to do it. Why? Because this game was made by retards that never set a skate on an ice rink.

All in all, it's a terrible fucking game, and it's my fault for thinking a game that was selling for $20 was worth playing. Shame on me.

The best part was trying to go find a forum on EA's Site to see if there were any solutions / patches to these bugs... nada... zip... zilch. You can't even tell them how fucking terrible their game is, but I'm sure they already know.

Odd. I've played most of the other EA sports games - and I've been quite pleased with them over the last few years. Dispite loathing golf in person, I find the Tiger Woods franchise to be a nice diversion for a couple hours a night once a year (when they release new versions). EA skipping the PC-version of their baseball game hurt, but I went with the High Heat franchise the last year or two. Also quite enjoyable.

Bummer the NHL franchise isn't living up to it's hype.

Oh, not to NOT answer your question again, I'd like to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of the anti-KOTOR-2 fanbois saying how the ending sucked (and it did), and how the game was terrible because of it; but, well, I can't. The ending just makes it an 8/10 instead of a 9/10.

yea, the KOTOR2 ending did suck, and it was fairly bugged (guessing rushed), KOTOR1 definately owns it, still a good game though.

Did't bother with EQ2 or WoW as well. Can fire up CoD for an hour here and there and laugh my ass off while playing it.

If you only play the first half of KOTOR2 and just guess how the rest ends it's actually quite good. Kinda like if you play Halo2 for 2 hours and then bust the CD and imagine how owny the rest of the game would have been...

Most dissapointing I would say would go to Prince of Persia 2. After the first I was expecting a relaxing yet exciting puzzle game with some combat to space up the huge elaborate puzzles. Instead you get basically a 20 hour hack and slash with the occasional shot of huge tits. Unless you're thorough or use a sploit guide to get the 'special' ending the game is a fairly serious let down.

I tried Warrior Within hoping that it would be a throwback to the original game that I knew and loved, with puzzles that were difficult to figure out but were not impossible, and had you saying "ohh...." when you finally solved them. This was just...yuck. There are two types of violence in games, "appropriate to game" and "fucking stupid". This fell under the second category, where it seems like everything is meant to have blood spurting everywhere and dismembered body parts go flying, spraying you with them like you are some ancient lord of blood. Torso slashing, dismemberment, extreme blood spurting, I was expecting a special scene where you got to draw and quarter someone it got so pointless.

I bought Resident Evil 4, and never looked back. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the series (this was my first step into it since the 2nd one) this game was fantastic fun. For a shooting style game (though removed prespective, like Metal Gear Solid 2 and the like) it had a well thought out and developed story, albeit it was easy to lose your place in it since you were caught up in blowing away villagers with a 12 gauge. The graphics are simply beautiful, its not plagued by awkward camera angles, and just overall very enjoyable.

Just one thing...

Not always. Katamari Damacy was gold. And I definetly prefered ESPN nfl2k5, which was 20 bucks, over madden.

Most disappointing game I've played recently would probly have to be WoW, but even then I knew I didn't like it before I bought it, so probly doesnt count.

Other then that havn't beem disappointed in along time, I ussually put a painstaking amount of consumer research into anything i'm gonna spend more then $15 on that isn't food.

I have heared very few people say WOW was a bad game.

For me, I'd have to say Fable. For all the hype and all the stuff I read I couldn't wait to play it. I bouhgt it and finished it in less than a day. /sigh

Oh and Battle for Middle Earth, what a cool concept but it sucks. I guess I'm used to AoE where you can tell your peasents what to do, mine stood around allot in BME.

WoW and EQ2 were ok, I just can't find time to play anything anymore :( I have more free time at work than I do at home....something is seriously effed up about that.

Battle for Middle Earth is the biggest dissapointment for me lately; I'm glad I decided to pass on NHL from the sound of it, too. Then again I still play MLB 04 for hours on end when I get an itch to play sports games, so prolly wouldn't have time for it even if it was good, heh.
