Eq2 you can download eq2 free plus play to like level 10 I think free to try the game out.. Does WOW do anything similar to that?

No, and it would be pointless anyways cause up to level 10 pretty much sucks. Once your class develops it's fun until you hit 60, then you smash into a wall again.

Funny, I really liked play up to level 10 - it's pretty much the only time when you get a lot of lore along with your adventuring, and you're discovering how tradeskills, etc, work (and can make things you can actually wear!). I agree that the 'wall' at 60 is pretty harsh, but one thing Blizzard *is* doing is releasing regular content updates and addressing the scaling problem...

When I can't find a group to instance, or don't feel like instancing/noodling on the alts, I go boot up City of Heroes and play Singularity ping-pong for a bit, as while the game is repetitive, it's never ending (bored at 50? Respec into an epic archetype!) and infinitely soloable...

I quite enjoyed the early game myself too.

And no there's no free trial. Games tend to only do that once their sales are down, thats why EQ2 did it. And WoW is selling incredibly well, so they don't need to. Same with guildwars and such.

I doubt anyone would dislike the part of WoW that they could give a trial of. The game is nearly flawless until 55ish. I was playing DDO recently and got frustrated enough with it that I wanted to install WoW and wash the aftertaste of DDO away. Even after leveling up in stress test, beta, open beta, and release, WoW is still a lot of fun.

Actually, I think PC gamer magazine had a 2 week free trial for WoW last month. But it disabled some features like the auction house, some chat stuff and basically was just there to give you a taste of what the game was like. Sort of like WoW-Lite.... :p
