Has anyone else finished the Orphan quest that’s out of Stormwind (don’t know about Horde side)?

If you don’t know about it, it’s a quest being given out in Cathedral Square, basically you have to take an orphan to 5 different locations around the globe and then buy them some ice cream.

I'm pretty new to most of the zones of the world so this quest took me about 2.5 hours to complete, I got ass raped by a couple raptors and crocs along the way, so there were a couple CR's involved.

The quests show up as a lvl 60 quest in the log, so I was pretty psyched to get started, being on my level 31 main I was thinking I'd get some great exp.

Yea. Anyway. Each stop netted me 650 exp, then the final turn in award was 1350 I believe. So all in, 4600xp points for 2.5 hours of work. Not worth it, and my point was proven when I ran back and turned in a "green" quest and got 1800 for about thirty seconds worth of work.

I realize the spirit of the quest was to explore and have some fun, but...damn. They could have made it a little more rewarding than that. Especially when they put a lvl 31 in a 40+ zone a couple of times.

Thoughts?

How many quests are there that a level 60 can complete and get Stormwind faction? not many ...

The orphan quest Horde side is basically doable by any level 12+ character. You have to take the orphan to Thunder Bluff, Ratchet, the Mor'shan Rampart, Undercity, and buy him ice cream. The quest exp reward is the same (650 per leg, 1800 for completion) regardless of level, so Faervas' level 13 mage alt got about a quarter of a level off of the trip and made 14.

Things I didn't like: All of the orphans were orcish, male, and had the *same name*. Where were the little calves and zombies? Where were the *girls*? (save your nasty jokes about what orcs do with their female orphans ;) ) They only had about 5 different random 'why' questions, so it wasn't even any fun talking to the kids. I found myself wondering what would happen if I took it into PvP and got it AEd, it was so static and un-fun... (I accidentally demolished my cat once when I had it out while blowing up the buildings in Plaguewood ;) ).

This was a cute idea, but Blizzard could have shown a little more creativity with the implementation. It just screamed 'slap-dash'...

Nydia

You shouldn't have had to have gone through any 40+ zones for the Alliance version of the quest. Westfall, Darnassus, Loch Modan are all lower level zones. Theramore Isle was accessible without passing through a 40+ zone, and the ice cream is available in Stormwind (so you don't have to try to navigate the gankfest in Gadgetzan to get to the Shimmering Flats).

Even if you had to go on foot to Menethil Harbor, you should have been safe enough at level 31...

So its purely for lvl 60's to work on faction? Kinda lame.

Edit: As far as running through higher level zones, blame that n the fact that I had no idea where I was going, so I was following the roads. I didnt even know there was a boat from Menethil to Theramore. I do now though!

Yeah, there's a boat between Menethil and Auberdine, and a boat between Theramore and Auberdine.

There's also one that runs between Rachet and Booty Bay, but that may be Horde-ganking city, depdening on the server (the Horde generally always owns Booty Bay on Skullcrusher since the honor system patch.)
