There were some great battles near the end. Crossroads and Hillsbrad were outta control pretty much from 6am Eastern until the servers went down a little after 6pm.

Just reserved my Collectors Addition WoW box set at EB Games.

Should be a blast.

Bring on the stress test! :D

I bet attendance just skyrocketted for most guilds during the next 2 weeks!

I'd be curious to see how attendance will be once WoW and EQ2 (let alone all the other MMO's, check out www.mmorpg.com (http://www.mmorpg.com) )get released.

Maybe our idea of having a guild to help supply fresh recruits for a higher level guild isn't such a bad idea after all hehe ;)

they are doing a stress test before open beta, so the email to closed beta people from blizzard says.

Won't open Beta *be* a stress test?

They've been ambiguous about which is which or if they're both the same or what. They've specifically used both "open beta" and "stress test" to describe seemingly different things lately. Who knows.

Anyone been able to get the new client downloading yet? My accounts aren't registered with my email address, so I'm kinda out of the loop.

The client is not available yet. I'm betting they are gonna be down for around a week, hopefully less -- fearfully possibly more. They aren't letting us closed testers DL the client in advance, as decided before, though we may only have to patch instead of download. So ambigious.

I bet there's a download available today sometime.

I think they're going to have to get the ball rolling pretty soon, if the release date is in fact November 15th.

Thought it was around the 22nd.

That date was just one made up by ebgames, they figured mid-month November. The packaging and distribution options are already set up, but they haven't started the process -- which takes about 4 days from "gold" to in the stores.

The only official date has been quoted at "before the end of the year", obviously they are shooting for Nov 28th (black friday) to be in stores to make the stockings for christmas.

The story floating around last week that quoted the Vivendi person had the week of the 22nd. No official word has come since.

It could be, I'm not entirely positive. A somewhat reliable source I have says that they're going to be trying for November 15th, and it's also what most of the online game sites have as the ship date, I believe. Those could be wrong, too, though; it's hard to say (there have been some rumors that some Nov 15th posters have been shipped to EBgames and GameStop stores, too, though I'm not sure on the validity of those rumors). In any event, they're going to have to get the ball rolling soon in order to have enough time for open beta. I'd guess they'll have updated their front page by the end of today or early tomorrow.

Well, that answers that... I just downloaded the "Final Stress Test" downloader. The file name of it ends up being "Open Beta Installer". Guess they're one in the same.

I take it that the final stress test was by invitation also? I tried to sign up for it, and it asked for an activation code... I preordered the game (box contained only a book and an ad for Intel), but no such code in or on it...

Nydia

the final stress test requires you follow the links to file planet . you must subscribe to file planet to join the final stress test . however 5 to 7 days from today unless something delays it is the start of the open beta , you can join file planet to join the stress or wait a week and join the open beta .

Hey blizzard, thanks for giving the finger to us loyal customers by making us pay fileplanet 15 bucks if we don't want to wait a week to get into the open beta!

Our guildleader in WOW gave us the address to the DL site.

Don't you need a key from FP to create a ST account anyway? =/

Let's hope the creators of WoW are better at maintaining the game itself (now and in the long-run) than they are at planning beta and release dates.

Yes, Fileplanet isn't that stupid unfortunetly.

I've come to view Fileplanet as a quite oppressive online entity :o =). Why can't they send the open beta client to somewhere like download.com?

Whats even more interesting.. I paid the 7.99 for access to the site, registered to play, and low and behold, they are quick to send a receipt for the money, but no beta key.. and no verification email to verify the account, take their sweet ole time because its not required by law like purchase receipts are.
