I had to quit reading at page 31.... but I will pick up where I left off today. Seems that the guy who's wife cheated on him has previously tried to kill himself by setting himself on fire.... now that is impressive. And no he isn't a monk (IRL).

To be honest, speaking as a guy who was cheated on by his X, there were signs that I ignored.
I'm sure his wife gave similar signs, and he should have taken notice, but was:

1. Too caught up in his own shenanigans to notice or
2. Too much in love, and ignored them.

And for the record, it is very difficult to commit suicide by setting yourself on fire. The natural reaction to that sort of pain is to try and get away from it.
I've only ever seen it successfully accomplished by a Buddhist monk protesting the Vietnam war.
