I'd expect a tax hike...we still have to pay for Bushs war....for many many years.

Sure, has nothing to do with all the economic stimulus or healthcare bills going through...
At this point Obama has no hope of a second term.

Nope but the collective mass of people that believe everything the news networks cram down their throats do. And we all know where this is going. That's why I said that.

He's still got pretty solid approval ratings and is going to get a ton of credit for us getting out of the recession over the next 3 years. Every poll out there shows people almost 50/50 split OR favorably towards him with his handling of health care.
Besides, this is his first year. That's like judging a football game being over before the first quarter ends. You can't be that stupid. We have years ahead of us to judge if his stimulus and health care plans work(ed).

People were talking 2012 elections before the last one was even decided. Kelraz is right - Obama will be judged by the state of the economy and nation at the time the next election, and people with short attention spans/memories won't remember the first few days in office...although who knows, that election might already be starting.
Good lord people.

Matchup wise.
Obama will wipe the electorate floor with just about anyone the GOP has positioned right now.
With the exception of Thune. That dude is the best the GOP has and would be damn scary in an election. He could beat Obama, and I would put my money on him in a match up... I don't see anyone else they have that would even get as close as McCain.

GOP will select the pitbull with lipstick as the front runner!

Much like how barely anyone knew who Obama was in 2004, I'm pretty sure we don't know who the Republicans are going to run yet.

That doesnt happen every year Kel.
Look at the top 20-30 GOP people. If they arent starting fund raising now.. they arent in it in 2012. Gingrich has 8 mil. Palin has a bunch in her SarahPac. Romney never stopped his campaign really. The GOP doesnt move like the Democrats either. The GOP tend to have a much more structured hierarchy. People wait their turn and close ranks fast, there arent traditionally massive primary ruckuses like the Dems have. The Republican process is much more streamlined and a candidate like Obama could have never gotten the nomination in their system.
As it stands.. Romney will be the choice. It is his "turn"

Somewhat related, CNN has great video this morning of McCain saying how much Obama's stimulus helped our economy.

Ll is correct in his assesment IMO. I would add that the candidate is going to depend on how strong Obama looks coming into 2012. The GOP knew they hade no shot after the GWB years and McCain was the perfect sacraficial lamb.
If Obama looks strong. it will be Palin. Weak Pawlenty. unless of course they somehow pull thier heads outta thier asses and rally behind Powell.
