sorry to say.. but I cant really see how they can make StarCraft into a good and worth playing MMO, I think they will have better luck with doing something with Diablo

I can see the game, just not sure how they'd make it all that different from WoW. I suppose if you had enough of an audience that wanted a SciFi MMO over high fantasy, that might work though.

Well if they try to make something along the lines of SWG, then they might have some hope.. but in the same hand SWG wasnt all that great.. even befor SoE FUBAR'ed it

Really though all they need is 1/4 of the current WOW subscribers to pay the discounted price for WOW and WOS and it will auto be the second biggest MMO.

this will draw the anti-fantasy crowd. Its more guns, power armors, vehicles. Racial choices should be interesting. Im looking forward to it. Just like Blizzard took EQ, Blizzard it out and make WoW, hopefully they will take SWG and do the same makeover/rewrite.

What I'm interested in is how the "sides" or factions will be handled. Is it going to be 3, ala Planetside? If the three factions are seperate, you then have the issue of classes. Terrans obviously have the most traditional classes: Marines would be warriors, Medics would be healers, Firebats would be DPS, Ghosts would be the rogue-esque class... but when you get into Protoss and Zerg things get interesting. Protoss would have to be caster oriented I would think, and Zerg would have to be mostly melee. But would Zerg be a playable race? If so, who would the common NPC bad-guy be?

Something interesting with Starcraft is it doesn't have the lore that Warcraft did when they made WoW. WC3 had an extensive storyline and tons to build on. Starcraft is a bit dated and while it has a story line, most of it is just combat between the three races. I'm wondering if maybe there will be 3 different home worlds, each full of one of the races + some other mobs to make things interesting. Then, lets say you're Terran, you can travel to the Zerg or Protoss homeworld to hunt.

This would have to be a heavily PVP oriented game, I would think. Ofcourse, thats what I probably would have said about WoW if it had been released around the time of Warcraft 2.

I'm thinking Planetside-esque in terms of implementation. You get certs that let you choose your class, starting with ground grunts and maybe moving up to air and special creatures. For Terrans you get training, Protoss receive cybernetic enhancements, and zergs undergo mutagenic transformation.

Or something.

Be interesting to see what they come up with..

I hope they learned their lessons from World of Warcraft, namely:

1) Make the game easy to get into, just like WoW
2) Keep system specs decently low, just like WoW
3) Keep it fun, just like WoW (From lvls 1 to 50 anyways)

Other things to do:

1) Keep the game raid focused (like WoW was, though they're working on it)
2) Keep gold farmers in check from early on
3) If possible, keep it skill based vs. level based. I could see this as more of a Tabula Rasa type deal, with classes and advancement, but more action oriented. By earning skills and abilities, it could help keep the game fresh as people trade in one set of abilities for another.

Overall, I think it's very unlikely Blizzard will not hit another home run. Then again, most of the people that made Blizzard....well....BLIZZARD have since up and left and formed their own companies. Lets hope that the current staff learned enough over the years to emulate their previous successes while creating new and exciting ideas. The MMO market is rife with WoW clones, it's time for some company, heck ANY company to try and break the mold. Blizzard could be that company, if they decide to take the risk.
