Okay it's been like a REALLY long time since I've played and I have some questions.
1) what do I do with marks of honor if I don't turn them in for honor? I have tried to look this up but all I see is huge lists of what you can get but nothing telling me whom i should see to turn in to. And how many do I need?
2) when do they update ranks for honor system?
3) so now when you go to BG you're fighting against people on other servers? That is too freaking cool.
4) anything I should keep in mind while leveling a hunter? I'm having a complete blast with this class and honestly if I'd played one before I probably would have stuck with wow. They are far too much fun and make the druid and shaman classes a snore.
5) i'm on the alliance side, what is the fastest way to earn cash? I've just been questing and getting by but damn I want better stuff.
It's still easy as crap to level I'm almost 19 and I just started Sunday afternoon and I've already levelled two other classes to over 10 and have professions over 100 in 3 areas. Tell me this slows down or I'm going to get through stuff way too fast. In all though I see the game hasn't changed much but there is definitely a fun feeling from playing and something that was lacking in my time in other games.

There was a patch last tuesday totally revamping the PVP system. Now instead of you having to be a certain rank, and having to work harder each rank in order to rank up, you bank honor points you can spend on items. This gives everyone a chance to get the items they want instead of grinding through ranks that are worthless to them. So, with that in mind ...
1) Marks of Honor are additional ingredients in these purchases. So now it takes X Honor Points plus X (Specific BG) Marks of Honor. Just stockpile them in your bank until you are ready to make purchases, and as you pick out items you want part of the cost will list those marks.
2) You don't get ranks anymore, and your honor points are added to your pool daily.
3) Yep! Its to prevent wait times. Generally any BG you want is available in less than a minute.
4) Bears are great tanking pets since they eat anything :) Also don't pigeon hole yourself into 1 weapon type (unless you are a dwarf / troll) but use all of the different types of ranged weapons. Talent wise the easiest leveling route is beast mastery (level your pet up and he holds agro better) - though I went with marksmanship.
5) Just keep questing. Don't buy any new items / gear from vendors or the auction house, just keep saving your gold for the mount. Any items you get at level 19 you'll upgrade 100 times over from quests or dropped items from dungeons. Try to get into the Deadmines - that place is awesome!
It slows down a bit, yeah fear not. You'll start to run out of quests you are capable of doing in areas and have to bounce around a bit in the 20s.
What profession you going with the hunter? Enchanting is the most expensive and without a lot of support not very profitable. Tailoring and Blacksmithing are pretty much worthless to you. Leatherworking is a viable option, though Alchemy/Herbalism is very useful and Engineering is the one profession best suited for a hunter over all others. Jewelcrafting comes out in a month which should benefit everyone, as well. If you plan to take that up, go ahead and grab blacksmithing / mining for now and drop blacksmithing when the time comes. OR if you want $$, take skinning or herbalism and mining and sell all your gathered materials.

I'm doing alchemy and herbalism b/c I am playing with some friends and one is doing leather/skinning, another is doing engineering, and Leah hasn't made up her mind yet but will probably smith.
I went to deadmines last night, yes that place is awesome! I think I'll be there quite a bit :)
The queue for Warsong Gulch is always 10+ min for me :( It sucks but I like that I can do other stuff while waiting. So no more ranks? Wow that sucks :( And thanks I will bank my marks is there a limit on how many I can keep before I have to spend them?

They also normalized pet speeds, so most pets all attack at the same speed now with the exception of a couple of rares. Find a pet that looks cool, and 99% of the time that will cover your bases. Right now serpents seem to be the pet flavor of the month. I'm keeping my ghost cat.

For PVE leveling, use a bird.

Ah I guess queues at the lower levels is longer. But 10 minutes is better than indefinate, which was what it was like before the changes :) And ranks really did suck too. Speaking as someone who was Grand Marshall - it took me WAY too much time, I could have stockpiled all the points for the weapon in a few weeks time instead of going through the 4 month bullshit.
For example, yesterday on my mage I pvped for an hour or so and got 128 kills for an equivelent of 1084 honor. Before the patch the highest rank I ever got was Centaurion (Rank 9 - basically some of the blues but none of the epics) and if it was this system from the start I'd have around 82,000 Honor Points (enough to buy a High Warlord weapon and 1 or 2 pieces of Warlord armor).

As far as where to turn stuff in. same vendor(non-city) where you Q in for the BG. IE hammerfall for arathi on horde side, consequently all players now have access to the previous officer only area's where the epic weapons and mounts are sold. I like the new system since i only BG once or twice a week for a few hours each and i already have enough to get 2 really nice pieces once i crack 40. of course it helps bieng Horde as we always win=P.
And WTF is this hunters are overpowered now crap?I've owned more hunters since the patch than before!
And to welcome you back in grand WOW forum style!!!!
Go QQ more you whiney alliance 12yo! L2P & STFU!

I have found the officer area that you are referring to but the costs seems astronomical and require very high levels. Is there nothing that a level 20ish can't attain? Where is that vendor in IF or Stormwind b/c I have yet to find them.
The most crappy thing I have run into at my level is the insane twinked out level 19s that make it difficult to kill them. Luckily though both sides do it so I guess it evens it out and to be honest I feel more satisfaction from killing them than winning the damn BG but the teams I have been on have won several :)
I stopped doing alchemy for now and instead am selling the herbs holy shit people eat swifthistle up like candy. I've already made more money at level 19 than I did on any previous character I took to level 30 lol.
Oh one other question... why is it when I'm in a BG none of my text I type is echoed in my screen? Neither party nor raid text that I type is echoed in my window and I don't even know if I'm being heard by others that is incredibly annoying is it a setting or working as intended? Obviously this works fine all other times it's just when in BG.

The gear for level 20ish folks comes from Warsong Gulch's battlemasters (In Ashenvale for Alliance, Barrens for Horde).
They are listed here, disregard the required reputation since they took that out:

Ahhh so it's in Ashenvale THANK YOU that is the piece that I needed to know. So I go there and turn in my marks and I can buy this stuff? I know this may seem mundane to those who have been playing a long time but Blizz's site doesn't seem up to date and it's confusing when you're trying to find out this type of stuff.
Is there a page that lists by level range where you can aquire this stuff?
i.e ashenvale, etc?

each vendor will sell the the stuff from 20 to 60 (armor and trinkets), the prices are lot less for that gear than the HWL or GM stuff. around 450ish honor and 20 marks for my level 40 Arathi pieces. not bad IMHO as i alredy have 1400 or so honor from just a few stints in BG's.
as for the chat /bg will enable battleground chat wich displays to your team. /say will work as well as wispers to your team mates.

Your text not showing up on your screen is because they have different commands in BG's. To talk to the raid in a BG its /bg . Im not sure what the party chat is in a BG since I really dont use it.

Petopia.com has info on almost any kind of pet you might want. (where to find, what it eats, ect) Pretty nice site and has the expansion info on pets coming soon hopefully. Should help your decision on what pet you want to get a lot easier.
My hunter (Tauren) is 45 atm and has a black widow spider for a pet. Not as good as others, but it's not the cookie-cutter FOTM pet everyone has usually. (named her charlotte naturally)
Ryoba 60 Undead Warlock
Arkhon 60 Undead Priest
Cudd 45 Tauren Hunter

Can someone explain "cower" to me? Why would I want my pet to lose aggro and cause no damage?
Nydia Ywalmoriel

Cower doesn't cause the pet to do *no* damage; you can think of it as being closer to the Succubus' "Soothing Kiss" (it lowers agro on the pet for a short time). When you're levelling up a new pet that's quite a bit lower than you, and you want to tank for it, Cower is a decent option because even if you don't have it growling, things may charge it and you want to be able to pull agro off of it. If you have a very squishy, high DPS pet (spider, cat), and it risks pulling aggro off a poorly geared (or just crummy) tank, you can use Cower here too. Admittedly, my hunter is a L 40 sadly-neglected alt, and I don't use cower that often myself, but those are a couple of the few things it is useful for.

Nydia

It's good for kiting sometimes.
In groups, it would be theoretically good, but in practice there's no need for it. If the pet can pull off a tank then he probably blows, or you're BM spec and the pet can handle any agro it gets anyway.
Kelraz Bladesinger

It depends on your spec. Pets can dish out a fuckton of dps with beast mastery, during which case you'll probably want to tank so they don't die. If you can't think of a way it'd be useful to you though, you probably don't need it :)
