dart: The fact that EW hates me for not stepping back on a mob that EW wanted to kill and for not flagging their members has NOTHING to do with the fact that they get their shit done. As for the whole "omg we beat eq" thing... well, for now, we have conquered the single most difficult encounter in the game. Will there be more in the comming months with new expansions? Most likely, you (or anyone else) can take that as you will.

For the most part however, we plan to kick back for a few days and savor the taste of sweet victory.

As said above, Verant could buff Empereor Crush up so he quads for 10k, but still he's just Emperor Crush. And EW just killed all the gods there are. And the gods are the highest beings there are, besides Veeshan. So you can't get any "higher". :)

And to go back on the "end of the game" subject, lorewise (if this has any sense for our mighty developers), the highest beings of Norrath world have been slained, but some sub deities /waves Druzzil, and Veeshan (creator of Norrath) + Nameless (creator of Universe).
So yes probably next extensions will be bring new challenges, new encounters (and maybe some hardest than Quarm himself), but is there something "above" Gods ?

soooo anyway, aside from the vehement personal attacks between a few individuals I think Taino actually was congratulating ew for their accomplishment in his first post. Aside from the angst regarding the reflagging issue, I also think that was appreciated by the majority of ew members. I think he also posted a valid question as to what the future of eq is post time?

Also, no other guild has even entered time yet, let alone beat quarm. Who do you think will be next? Seems to me the race for 2nd place is a 4 way tie atm between ivm, cb, ls, sot? Seems like all are suffering issues whether it is attendence or being stalled at particular encounter. Sot beating Fennin last week puts them in the running imo although their ability to consistently field raid strength night after night may prove to be a barrier going forward?

This rings true for any of the guilds in the elementals. Even the great war machine of EW has suffered some setbacks. The assimilation of XA *or whatever you choose to call em* helped them reach thier goal. Kudos EW.

My personal opinion on elemental rings / events. Most of the encounters are ass. VT timesink...shit I welcome that compared to this crap. I think anyone whos done the Dust ring in POA knows what Im talking about here. It takes its toll on the most hearty of gamers, add that to the sheer burn out of playing EQ for 3+years and you have a definite recipe for retiring and folks who just tire of loggin on. Happens to the best of them. Am I concerned about seeing Potime, nope not really...at this stage in the game im just happy to hang with ppl I enjoy and killing things we can with what we have.

I didnt even read the whole thread since I did not intend to start an EW vs. LotJ flame here. I flamed Deecee for telling me I should die in RL.
I do not like the fact that Halo jumped on the flamebait from Fandros and LL. But I am not responsible for his words. I'd just like to mention that I am not backing him up in all his words.

One thing jumped in my eye tho...
Not because you dont have the number, size, quality of players, or guild equipment level to do it.
We do not have the numbers. We raid with around 40-55 people.
We do not have the size. We have barely 70 active members.
We do not have the equipment. We have mostly NToV, lower PoP equipment. We farmed mobs like Seru, Agnarr, Zeks and such lately, this is as high as it gets.
One main reason why we are not killing Quarn right now is because we raid 3 times a week. not more. We like it that way. We strongly stress the fact that we are not powergamers. We do not play this game to beat it all at all costs. We do try to kill as much as possible, but within our guidelines, our meaning, our reason of existance. Having fun in EQ, trying to get things done without having to be powergamers.

EW has a different approach. This is good. Cause if everyone had the same approach, we'd have a huge fight against eachother, cause everyone would be killing our mobs :)

But... Quality Players? I'd like to very very much disagree with this statement Kiradure. I am nothing but an average Joker player. I do not have the knowledge that many of my members have, because I play less. I dont know everything about all quests, about all mobs, about all zones, about all fights, about all items. But I have 250 days played on my Paladin. I play this game since more then 3 years. We have a lower number of eBayed players then most guild, I tend to believe. We are very very much looking into the quality, skills and knowledge of our applicants to ensure that we get quality players. It is a very important issue to us.
I do not say that we master things. I do not say that we're the king of the world. But it is at least our intention to get high end stuff done with as few people as possible. It is our belief that we do not want to recruit people just to kill mobs. We want to kill mobs with whatever people we have. This way we learned a lot and even if we are not a real high end guild, we get mobs killed with less people and worse equipped people then most other guilds. Again I don't say we're better then the rest. I am sure EW kills the same mobs with even less people. But at least we try hard. So I tend to disagree on the "Quality Player" part. Having unqualified people is for sure not the reason why we are not killing Quarn.

I'd like to add that I do not know EW well enough to define whether yu are a guild with many eBay players blabla and so on. What Halo said is his opinion which I do not share since I do not know how things are with you.

One last thing.
I started this thread to answer Deecee. It was not my intention to get my guild invilved in this. Nor did I even fucking mention my guild before other people involved it. Saying that I want to get publicity or toot in my own horn for my guild and get on an ego trip is compelte bullshit and if you'd be able to objectively read this thread, you'd see it clearly.
The fact that I hardly ever post on this forum (besides in this thread now), the fact that I don't even have my guild name, link or magelo in my signature.. just those things should be evidence enough that I do not give a flying fuck about bragging on this forum about my guild, or about getting my guild on this forum.
I do consider our reputation to be important. I do like to get along with all people. But I prefer getting this done by talking to people, having personal contact, being friendly to everyone that is friendly to me, and I do not believe that I need to come to this forum talking big to do so.

i don't think DC ment she really wanted Anterak to die, some people post with extreme sarcasm. And I (oh hell.. wtf) agree with your basic statement. Halo is one of the reasons why my guild still exists. Now ok besides the fact he drove dozens of members completely crazy so they left, besides the fact we have several members in psychiatric institutes where they seem very timid and snap when you move fast... people like him are one of the reasons why this guild still exists.

But... I as GUildleader have to make sure things are always being handled fairly. I do not intend to have guildfights and so on and I have a responsability over my guild. I can't just start fights with anyone.
I'm very honest and open. I will never hide what I think. That's why I mostly earn flames when I post on this forum. Flames are fine. Its fun sometimes. That Deecee flame didn't like... hurt me. I just thought that was such an insane bullshit she said that I have to start a flame about it.
What I don't like is to involve guilds. I don't judge "Guilds". I judge people. When EW kills Quarn, then they killed the thing as a guild. But when I get trained from one of your members, then I really dislike one of our members, and not your whole guild. Which is also why I posted above that "half of your guild thinks I'm a fucking asshole". Becuase this is the attitude I get from your guild. But still I don't judge your whole guild. Cause I dunno. The only thing that will actually happens is that if LoTJ need a reflag one day or need a mob and we actually need it too, most likely they ll be told to fuck off. But thats only fair. Other than that no hate really.

Well, first there's the fact that a Uber crushbone would kick ass, had to get that out of the way.

But, there is most definitely places Everquest can go from here, as I said before.

Firstly, Plane of time isn't the "end" of the storyline. If I remember right, you actually go back in time when you zone into the zone, back when the gods were trapping Zeb(no way I'm spelling that name out). And because they were trying to contain him, they specifically state that they are in a weakened... state. So, the gods that are faced in PoT aren't anywhere near the "true gods". Just like how the Cazic in the Plane of Fear is far less of the Real Cazic Thule as the one in Plane of Time. I remember the dev's saying something like this too, explaining why gods repop and why some are so much stronger then others when it doesn't make sense storyline wise(tunare in velious compared to cazic and inny in their original planes).

Then there's the interesting thing about Plane of time. Now, I'm not the best at explaining time travel, so I apologize in advance if this isn't to clear:

In the storyline of Everquest, the killing of the weakened gods and quarm by mortals, technically never happened.

When Zeb is freed, Druzzil Ro comes in and basically goes "Shit, this isn't good, so I'm sending you back to where you came from, and reverting this timeline back to before you came! *POOF*" So, other then the loot and memories(since she ports you back to your time before reverting "plane of time", for whatever reason), its as if no even entered the Plane of Time. It is a horrible, horrible waste of the zone, but that's how it is.

Sooo, players still haven't killed the current day, fully powered gods, and thanks to Druzzil's intervention, they were never killed.

And plus, there's the whole darkness thing that Druzzil Ro talks about, is her reason for reverting time, and is even talked about in prologues to PoP. That's bound to lead to something. We still don't know what Zeb wanted to tell everyone, which was the reason he was imprisoned.

And now I'll just throw out other ideas for things which would be above and beyond what has been done with the EQ story. Some more out there, some which have basis in the current game.

A rip off of the underdark, which in its deepest depths has ancient demons from the initial creation of Norrath(Hi balrog from lord of the rings). Another Uber offshoot of the combine could be down there too maybe.

Anything involving the current day gods. Some war between gods or whatnot.

Aliens(stupid idea, but an idea)

All sorts of crazy stuff could be done with Kerafyrm and his story. "Sleeper's Two, he's back and he's pissed!" Remember his power is supposed to possibly rival veeshan's.

Here's a pipe dream for ya. I'm pretty much gonna make this up as I go, but its an example of what could be done:

It ends up our friend Kerafyrm still kinda holds a grudge against all dragonkind due to the whole being imprisoned for all eternity thing. So he goes off to fight the big dragon herself, veeshan. And he succeeds, enslaving her, and taking over her position as the head honcho dragon. All sorts of mayhem ensues. And since he's still really pissed(and he's crazy), he decides that's not enough, and plans an extermination of every dragon in the land of norrath. So, now most of the dragons on norrath have been killed. The last few remaining members of the Ring of Scale have a secret meeting, and decide to go with a last ditch desperate plan. They let Vox and Naggy screw(they were imprisoned while the sleeper was sleeping, so he doesn't know about them), creating a second Kerafyrm. Massive war between the 1st Kerafyrm and the new kerafyrm ensues. Players and even gods could take sides and whatnot. I'll let your imagination take it from here.

Sooo... it'd never happen, and probably isn't the best storyline, but I'm just using it as an example that of what could happen using the EQ storyline and fit in the EQ world.

And oh yeah, in everquest Two, luclin has gone boom. Something pretty big has to happen to cause that.

What do I think the real "end" of everquest would be? The destruction of the Nameless, thus negating all existence.

This what I love about open ended games like this. Back before I became jaded to the game, I used to think of what COULD happen or even be happening with the game all the time, thinking up crazy stuff like a clockwork dungeon under Ak'Anon, or the story I came up with about the sleeper, and it would give me a sense of awe. MMORPG's can just keep getting deeper and deeper, if the developers decide to do so.

Its really late, this was about 10 times as long as I had planned (sorries), and I'm getting nostalgic. So, g'night.

kerafrym was already fucked up, according to "storyline", after he was freed, he went and killed all the other dragons on norrath, all the other dragons on all the other planets veeshan had them, and then he went after veeshan, this time when they fought she could not defeat him so she asked for all the powers from the other gods, they all granted her wish, they fight and both kill each other and all the gods lose their powers. this is when Everquest 2 would have started...except they obviously fucked everything up from here one

one possiblity is that the darkness is "the nameless", no one is sure if its a god or a place really...in the kerafrym/veeshan story a part says that they fought in the nameless, ive read somewhere else that the nameles finishes the fight, i dont know...but its probably something to do with THE NAMELESS!~

Which lead me to the conclusion that I was generally simply hated or at least disliked by the guild. I found that pretty weak. No I didn't think you were like.. wasting time on this issue.

You misunderstood. I'm simply curious why the rule exists in the first place. Every other guild allows tag alongs in exchange for future flagging for their own members as well. It simply benefits you to allow it if you plan on working towards elemental zones.

And sorry for taking your question a tad hostile-like Shorty. I'll explain a bit about the rule, if you're actually that interested (god knows why you are). It never used to exist. A good while ago (year or so) we used to allow guests on raids no problem. And then we had a string of incidents that ended up in a hard time for us. Some included guests training Vindi on our clerics on a Kael raid, and another where we allowed a warrior to tank for us on a raid, who actually ended up fleeing for his life when things got messy, leading the mob in question to wipe us. After a while we got sick of guests. We found it much more satisfying and enjoyable when we worked alone, as a guild, how it was intended. When PoP was released, we found that an overwhelming amount of people always wished to tag along, purely for flags. For us, it was odd. We were fighting mobs with 40 Jokers, and about 10 guests. How can you kill something like that and claim 'My guild killed it'. Not really. So we decided to make a rule that on all guildfirst kills, no guests would be allowed. This was to beable to say 'We killed this mob, not with any help or anyone else. But Jokers did it.' Gradually guests became a huge hassle and a pain, always having leachers and moochers begging for flags. It got to the point where raid leaders and officers were so overwhelmed with fucking flaggers and guest tells that we were unable to focus properly. Anywho, not to get sidetracked, but then we decided as a guild that enough was enough and we just would politely decline anyone who asked to join us. We like to raid as Jokers, not as Jokers and co. We work better on our own and with lower numbers, and guests were nothing but hassles. Of course when you decided this, you can't begin to let a few people join 'just cause'. We created the rule, and we have to stick by it. As harsh as it seems.
Even when the resident uber guild offers you a shitload of cash and more.

Maybe that'll clear it up for you.

Well that's cool, I can understand idiots tagging along and not knowing how to behave, though I would *hope* you wouldn't run into that with people from guilds needing flags, heh. I was mainly curious because I know one or two guilds on our server started with that policy and quickly changed after realizing backflagging would be a nightmare. I didn't know of any other guilds that had similar policies, but I figured there was a history of retards joining raids and fucking them up. Been there, done that, heh.

Ok, I am honestly not here to stir up badwill but I was under the impression that the jokers were offered money ONLY becuase they had accepted cash in the past for flags once or ?maybe? twice. That being the case, I was one of those flag leeches on that day trying to get a flag with the Jokers. I sent a few direct tells directly to Taino, was told no, he explained why and that was that. Although disapointed at the time, I never sent flames to anyone or trained the Jokers, nor did the few EW who were with me at the zoneline. Just so you know why the Jokers were offered money (because you had done so in the past on at least one occasion). And that money was not the guild's funds, it was our toons, just to clarify that.

It all worked out in the end, we got the flags at a later date. No big deal.

Well, we accepted that. We found that nice becuase our guild doesn't have a lot of cash. We generally don't buy and sell. If you see Jokers buying or selling, its personal things, not guild items.

So anyways, yes we took money there and from that moment I always said "30k for the flag and you're in". This worked because noone payed it. Some were pissed, some offended and so on. We did not have this "no guests in NO WAY" Rule yet. We just had a "just very very few guests please" Rule.
But this didn't work. You know at the end you still flag some people and don't flag others. This causes shit.
Look back at the EW incident.
We had a flagging deal with Landslide back then. We flag them, they give us runes. That was back when we needed runes still. So when EW asked for flags I said that we don't flag anyone. Immediately I got flamed and insulted by like 10 people, even good friends of mine, which never talked to me anymore after this (/wave Caeralee). This all just because I said we dont flag anyone, but had this LS deal. Geez.

So well after all this, we decided as a guild that we dont flag anyone at no time undedr no circumstances! Because we always just got shit from everyone. EVery single flagging mob I got insulted and flamed, I got 40+ tells from 40+ people asking for flags when we did AD or Grummus.. imagine this. 40 people asking for a fucking flag when you are trying to set up a raid. /ooc No I won't flag you. /afk No I won't flag you!
And when I did this.. I got flamed and insulted.

Since we got this "no guests, no flags whatsoever" policy... guess what? Noone sends me tells, noone asks for flags, noone insults me, noone harasses me, noone stirrs up shit in ooc.. hell its great!

This is why we don't let guests in.
Besides being trained and wiped by guests a good dozen of times the past years.
