I appologize I was merely trying to make a point that yes this is a big deal but not for small children that are about 5 or older. Especially 8-13 can be left in car for 30min and it isn't gonna hurt them one bit. That's all i'm trying to make the point. Some people get way too anal over things like that and start pointing the figure and calling people horrible parents and such.
Babies on the other hand no... i wouldn't leave the kid just because i wouldn't leave it, heat or no heat. I do think a charge of negligence for this woman should be applicable but what her punishment should be I still think counciling and community service would be better than sitting behind bars with hardened criminals who intended to do crimes. |

IMO the mother ought to be rendered unable to reproduce. Call it barbaric if you like, but if she has a conscience she would probably agree herself.

Seeing 2-5 year old kids in a car unattended is a good enough reason to call the cops, no parent in their right might should do something so stupid, so many things can happen, the kids could put the car on neutral and cause it to roll back and cause an accident, the heat in the car could seriously harm or kill them, the car could get stolen(unlikely, but it's happened).
Its just stupid, how lazy do you have to be to leave your own kids in a car while you go do something. Forgetting is one thing, stupidity and neglect, but intentionally leaving your kids is beyond that. A few years ago, a woman left her infant in her car while she went into a store, someone jumped into her car, started driving off with it, the woman ran after and tried to grab her child, the kid got stuck in the seatbelt and was dragged to death. She recieved support from all types of people and even appeared on some of those talk shows like Ohprah. She should have been arrested. Leaving a kid in a car really should be a crime, you should get at least a fine if a cop drives by and sees kids in a car unattended. |

This was obviously pure stupidity, but at least relax a minute and think that maybe there was something awful going on in her life that had her mentally messed up and she made a tragic mistake. I hardly believe she deserves jail time unless she has a history. How can you punish her more than she has been already?
Ytrok I understand your sentiment of taking away the reproductive rights of parents who prove they are not fit to be parents, but at least allow that we don't have anywhere near the full story in this case. |
