Ok, so I'd been hearing basically nothing but great things about this movie so I went to check it out yesterday. Seriously I don't see what all the talk is about. Would anyone care to explain what was so great about it? ^^

I enjoyed it, but wouldn't call it a "great" movie -- just very good. That it diverges significantly from standard movie fare is, itself, a virtue, but it wasn't a perfect film. My biggest gripe was the occasional drowning of mono/dialogue by the score -- I don't think the theatre's sound system was at fault. A good film, but it's not everyone's cup of tea pictorially or thematically.

I don't really see what was so different about it. It was a bit chopped up into parts, that much is true.. but not more than some other movies I've seen recently and I'm not sure I would call it a good thing. What I did like about the movie was the photo, it was done really well and the movie just simply looked good. The story was so-so, I felt it was a bit far-fetched that the lab should have blown up on the same day as Guy Fawkes old demolition-attempt.
My biggest upset with the movie was that it just kind of died in the middle. It had a pretty good momentum going on in the beginning, and it picked up again towards the end. But in-between that there just wasn't much going on. Of course, it was supposed to be stretched over a year... that might explain it...

Thormir i do beleive your theaters sound system was at fault. I saw it, and absolutely loved it. Best thing DC has putout to date.
Reason i say, it was your theater is at fault, my roomate is a sound guy, and he commented on how well the dialogue was in comparrison to the score. As far as what makes it great, its very much delves into the human minds abilities to cope and change, and V is very very well done as a performer. |

I have to say that I had some problems with the sound during V's monologue when he rescues Evey in the beginning. I don't know what it was but the word's were incredibly hard to discern. Which was a pity because I have a feeling I would have enjoyed it.
Personally I didn't notice any delving of any kind in the movie. Atleast not out of the ordinary. I think that's what I missed the most even. I don't care much for action, so the lack thereof wasn't a problem in anyway, but it all felt... trivial somehow.
