Default World War Z

We're all dorks here, right? I picked this book up yesterday, sat on the couch and didn't get up until it was finished. It's an oral history of the Zombie War, which raged until 2010. If you enjoy zombie movies at all, you gotta pick this up.

There are a crazy number of angles that the author introduces through the stories of the different survivors - probably 30 or so in all. There's an old Japanese guy blinded during the atomic bomb who wanders around his countryside in exile, killing zombies by the dozen with only a spear and his senses. There is a recluse azn who is stuck on the top of his apartment building which he hasnt left for years, and he has to repel balcony by balcony with sheets for days, fighting zombies the whole time. Zombies in this book walk on the ocean floor like Pirates of the Carribean, so there are lots of zombie invasions from the sea (own). There's even a story about some astronauts stranded on a space station, unable to do anything but watch as the world was overrun by the undead.

A super easy yet insanely entertaining read. If the zombies come I am ready, are you?!

I listened to the audiobook of this a week or two ago, it's really good stuff. Though I didn't know it was abridged until afterwards, so I'll be reading the book soon enough for sure.

I'm about half way through it right now.... it is different sort of zombie book. So far my favorite character is the Blind Japanese guy who sits and waits for them to get close, bows to them, smacks their heads off with one blow....then buries all the ones he kills

he took out 41 at his largest encounter

I still need to get the hardcopy book, and I've been trying to find a copy of the unabridged audio book.

However, the audio book even in it's abridged form is fucking awesome. It's 100% WIN. They use a full cast for the reading with the author only doing the part of the interviewer.
